NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On Saturday, the University of Hartford men's indoor track & field team kicked off the 2024-25 campaign competing at the Yale Season Opener in New Haven.
Rapid Recap:
- The Hawks were headlined by senior Conor Convery (Port Jervis, N.Y.) who broke the school record in the weight throw hitting the mark at 16.74 meters. Convery broke his previous mark of 15.98 which was set on February 10th on this year and finished the meet in 3rd place.
- Senior Jovan Joseph (Wrentham, Mass.) had a strong showing winning the men's 800 meter dash with a new personal record at a time of 1:57.60.
- Freshman Marlon Pierre (Baldwin, N.Y.) debuted strong with a 8.90 mark in the 60 meter hurdles good for 4th place.
- In the 200 meter dash sophomore Christopher Hergott (Hamden, Conn.) placed in fifth at time of 22.90. Hergott added a third place finish in the long jump at 7.01 meters.
- In the men's one mile senior Riley Brutvan (Gardiner, N.Y.) placed in third place at a time of 4:27.38.
- Sophomore Keller Casey (Charlton, N.Y.) scored a personal record in the 3000 meter at a time of 9:26.71 seconds good for sixth.
- In men's pole vault senior Joseph Lothamer (Newburgh, Ind.) finished in 2nd at a height of 4.35 meters.
- In men's shot put freshman Tarrell Jones (Cromwell, Conn.) scored in 9th place with a 12.73 meter throw. Jones would move into 9th in program history with the throw.
- Senior Joseph Stephenson (Crown Point, Ind.) placed in 7th in weight throw at 15.73 meters, freshman Aidan Lybarger (South Burlington, Vt.) moved into 5th in program history with a throw of 13.44 meters, while sophomore William Pavlinsky (New Milford, Conn.) improved to 6th in program history tossing 13.34 meters. Freshman Nick Gati (Goshen, N.Y.) finished the weight throw scorers moving into 7th in program history at 13.09 meters.
- Finally the men's 4x400 meter relay with senior Brandon Edmund (Brooklyn, N.Y.), sophomore Ben Vroeginday (Southington, Conn.), junior Spencer Beane (North Reading, Mass.) and freshman Aidan Quee (Springfield, Mass.) moved in 7th in program history in the event finishing in 3:27.32.
