Box Score NEW HAVEN, CONN. – For six innings, the University of Hartford softball bats were silent.
Hartford trailing 2-0, and getting no hit, quickly turned the tables with three runs and four hits in the top of the seventh to secure the 3-2 win over Albertus Magnus Wednesday at the Shea Softball Complex. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was halted before the game could be official.
Sophomore
Lauren Ackerman opened with a pinch-hit single and came around to score as sophomore Shailyn Williams knocked a pinch-hit double. Graduate
Mara Sczecienski followed with a double of her own, bringing home Williams with the equalizer.
Bing, Bam, Boom.
Three seventh-inning batters, three straight hits, and from no-hit to tied in the blink of an eye. Sophomore
Gia Miccio snapped the tie with a one-out single.
Albertus Magnus scored their only runs, both unearned, on a two-out single in the second inning.
Freshman
Alex Hassett (1-1) earned the win in relief, allowed just one hit over the final three innings with one strikeout and one walk. Freshman
Alexis Sealey hurled the first four innings, surrendered two unearned runs on a pair of hits with a career-high five strikeouts.
