Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The University of Hartford baseball team fell to Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Western New England, 13-5, Tuesday at Trelease Park.
Western New England scored in each of the first four innings, and held a 7-2 lead after four.
Hartford attempted to get back in the game with five consecutive one-out hits in the seventh inning. Sophomore Stephan Kubis sparked the rally with a double, driving sophomore Jeremey Mangiameli home after his double. Sophomore Cameron Boardman followed with an RBI single, scoring freshman Zaynn Godbee. Freshman Jackson Pam's double brought home Kubis for the final run of the inning.
Western New England seized control in the eighth inning, with six runs – only one being earned – to claim an eight-run lead.
Freshman AJ Formato (0-1) endured the loss for Hartford, pitching 2.0 innings, yielding six runs on six hits with one strikeout.
Boardman and Pam finished the game with two hits and two RBI, while senior Jake Santiago and Godbee also finished with a pair of hits.
