WILLIAMSBURG, VA. The Hawks traveled into the Old Dominion for what would be a home away from home tournament as the Hawks would play host down south. This tournament would be the spring season opener for women's golf and they would finish the tournament placing sixth of nine teams.
Rapid Recap:
- Groups opened play Saturday which would continue into Sunday for what would be a 2-round tournament. Hartford would finish with a combined score od 757 (+181).
- Freshman Gabby DeBenedetto (Southbury, Conn.) lead the way for Hartford shooting a 93Â in the first round and a 91Â in the second round with a final score of 184Â (+40). She would place 24th overall in the tournament.
- Junior Julia Smith (Plainville, Conn.) finished second for the Hawks with a 97 in the first round and a 92 in the second. She would place 27th overall.
- Abigail Crabtree (Bellport, N.Y.) would place 29th overall and shot a 91 on day one and 100 on day two.
Inside the Numbers:
- As a team Hartford finished with 36 pars.
- DeBenedetto jumped two spots between rounds one and two.

"This tournament tested us with the opponents we were paired with. No Matter the speed of play or the scores of our opponents, we all played our best and focused on ourselves. We were able to stay positive with the beautiful weather and the course we played on. I am happy to be starting the spring season with a great round. I can't wait to continue the season with positivity no matter the circumstances." said DeBenedetto.
