Box Score 2 WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Hartford softball team split with Williams College on Tuesday winning game one by a 2-0 final before falling in game two by a 7-4 margin.
Rapid Recap Game 1 (W, 2-0):
- The teams did not score through the first four innings as sophomore Alexis Sealey (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) was cruising only allowing a single hit through four innings.
- Hartford got on the board in the top of the fifth inning as Sealey doubled to get herself and senior Sarah Serrano (Windsor, Conn.) into scoring position. Senior Azya Walker (Oak Forest, Ill.) picked up the first RBI on a squeeze bunt to score Serrano. The second run came in as senior Olivia Wolk (Sugarloaf, Pa.) hit a sacrifice fly to score Sealey. On the mound Sealey kept the Ephs at bay as the Hawks would hold on to win by the 2-0 margin.
In the Circle:
- Sealey improved to 3-1 on the season tossing all seven innings without allowing a run with five strikeouts and four hits allowed.
At The Plate:
- Sealey went 3-for-4 from the plate with two doubled and a run scored. Serrano added a 2-for-3 day with a run scored. Sophomore Bridget Bernard (North Andover, Mass.) went 1-for-2 with a double in the win.
Rapid Recap Game 2 (L, 7-4):
- The Hawks got all their scoring in the first inning getting four runs in the opening frame. It started with Sealey coming home on a throwing error to plate the first run after doubling. Walker would later steal home. Wolk followed it up with a RBI double to score junior Gia Miccio (Bellmore, N.Y.). Freshman Ella Zobel (Clarence, N.Y.) added the final ribby on a double to plate Wolk as the visitors led 4-0. The Ephs got back into the game in the bottom of the inning getting a two-run homer to cut the lead in half.
- Williams added a third run on an RBI single as the Hawk lead was trimmed to just one. The Ephs took the lead in the bottom of the fifth getting four runs on three hits to take a 7-4 lead. Hartford could not come back in the game falling by the final to split the series.
In the Circle:
- Sophomore Gracie Hopkins (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) started the game going four innings allowing three runs (two earned) with a strikeout. Junior Carly Mayhood (Newton, N.J.) picked up the loss allowing three runs. Zobel closed the game with two innings of work allowing just three hits.
At The Plate:
- Sealey went 2-for-4 from the plate to lead the offense. Wolk and Zobel each went 1-for-3 with a RBI double.
Up Next:
The Hawks will host Suffolk University in a Conference of New England (CNE) doubleheader tomorrow with a 2:30 PM start.
