NEW ORLEANS, La. - On Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field regional award winners with two Hawks receiving recognition.
Head Coach
Connor Green was named the Mideast Region Women's Coach of the Year, while graduate student
Kayla Pelletier (Southington, Conn.) was named the Mideast Regional Women's Field Athlete of the Year.
Green, who was promoted to head coach of Hartford cross country and track & field on July 17th of 2023, finished off a historic season for the track & field program at the University of Hartford. This year the Hawks would win both Conference of New England (CNE) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, while also crowning the schools first five women's USTFCCCA All-Americans and the first National Champion in school history. Green would lead the Hawks to 37 All-Conference selections, 13 school records, 111 combine top-10 marks and 320 personal bests from student-athletes this year.
Pelletier who recently earned the Division III National Championship in women's javelin throw is the first USTFCCCA major award winner in school history. Kayla would win the javelin throw on Saturday hitting a distance of 45.73 meters. Kayla beat out 21 other competitors, while having the three best throws in the competition. Pelletier earned 1st Team All-American honors and is the first 1st Team All-American in school history. She was a USTFCCCA Outdoor Track & Field All-Region selection, CNE All-Conference 1st Team selection and was a two-time CNE Athlete of the Week in 2026.
