West Hartford, CT – The University of Hartford men's tennis team opened its 2009-10 season hosting the University of Connecticut Huskies at the Hartford Tennis Courts on Campus on Tuesday afternoon. The Huskies came away winners in the season opener by a 7-0 final. 
The Hawks fell in all three doubles matches, with the third doubles match seeing Hartford's best effort. Eric Floum and Aaron Kooden, playing for the first time as a doubles team, dropped an 8-4 decision to Tom Cook and Matt Burns from Connecticut. The Hawks other doubles teams were Josh Isaacson and Edgardo Ureta at second doubles (8-4 loss to Jai Yoon and Dave Adams) and Aneil Bhalla and Marco Neves at first doubles (8-1 loss to Andrew Marcus and Scott Warden).
Rookie, Neves came the closest for the Hawks in winning a set, dropping his first of two against Scott Warden by a 7-5 decision. Warden won the match with a 6-1 score in the second set. Bhalla, one of only two returning players from last season to play in the match, played at the number one singles position and dropped his match by scores of 6-1, 6-2 to Marcus.
Isaacson, playing in his first event as a Hawk, dropped the number two doubles match by a scores of 6-1, 6-4 to the Huskies Joe Goldstein. Rounding out the Hawks singles play was Floum at fourth singles (lost to Yoon 6-0, 6-3), Ureta at fifth singles (lost to Adams 6-0, 6-2) and Kooden at sixth singles (lost to Ricardo Cardona 6-2, 6-2).
The men's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, September 19 when they play their first match on the road against the Siena College Saints in a double header with the women's team. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
