Mannuccia Earns Rookie of the Week Honors

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - As the 2010 Hartford baseball season drew to a close, the Hawks played some of their best baseball of the year, taking two of three at Albany for their first conference series win. The Hawks swept Saturday's doubleheader, with the win in Game Two going to freshman starter Anthony Mannuccia. In his final appearance of his first season with the Hawks, Mannuccia pitched a gem, going the distance for a seven-inning, four-hit shutout of Albany as Hartford won, 4-0. On Monday, Mannuccia was named the America East's Rookie of the Week for his performance.

Starting the second game after Hartford had won the first on Saturday, 5-3 in eight innings, Mannuccia threw his most efficient outing of the season, setting season bests with seven strikeouts and seven innings pitched. He walked just one, scattering four hits from the Danes.

Mannuccia's complete game shutout was the second of the season for the Hawks. Steve Sobocinski blanked Sacred Heart on March 26, 2-0.

Although the win was the first of the year for Mannuccia, the freshman has pitched his best baseball down the stretch for the Hawks. In his final three outings, spanning 13.1 innings, Mannuccia pitched to a 1-0 record and a 0.68 ERA.

Hartford finished its season 11-37, 5-19 in the conference.
