Baseball Drops Final of Four Weekend Games 11-1 against Southeastern Louisiana

Box Score

TROY, Ala. – The Hartford baseball team (0-12 overall) dropped its final of four weekend games 11-1 to the Southeastern Louisiana Lions on Sunday afternoon in Troy, Ala. Hartford's only run came thanks to rookie center fielder Chris DelDebbio, who drove in his team-leading sixth RBI of the season.

Overall, the Hawks finished with five hits, two of which came from DelDebbio as he led the team with two hits in two at bats, while also sacrificing himself for the Hawks only run in the second. Joining him with hits in Sunday's game was Ryan Lukach, Billy Walker and Brian Hunter.

Two of those hits, from Lukach and Walker, came in the second inning as the Hawks tallied their only run in their half of the stanza; evening out the first scored by the Lions in the top half. Lukach opened the inning with a leadoff single to right field and was sacrificed to second by designated hitter James Alfonso. The second hit in the inning, from Walker, allowed Lukach to advance to third before DelDebbio's sacrifice drove the Hawks only run across the plate.

Junior Ryan Carter suffered his second loss of the season allowing four earned runs in 2.1 innings of work. Carter gave up two hits and walked two batters in his time on the hill. Four Hawks saw time in relief of Carter with Anthony Mannuccia racking up the most time on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing just one earned run on three hits and three walks. He also struck out four batters.

Two Hawks relievers finished scoreless innings for head coach Justin Blood. Freshman Sam McKay and senior Tyler Corsi both pitched single innings without allowing a hit or walk. Corsi added a strikeout to his line. Austin Barnes rounded out the pitching staff on Sunday, allowing six earned runs on three hits and three walks in one inning of work.
