WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The University of Hartford men's lacrosse team's offense went cold in the second half on a frigid spring night as the Hawks fell to visiting Holy Cross, 13-8, under the lights of Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday. The Hawks drop to 4-5 on the season while the Crusaders improve to 2-7 overall.
Hartford's four-game homestand continues on Saturday when it opens up America East Conference play against Binghamton. Opening faceoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
After a hot start that featured six Hartford goals in the first 24:22, the Hawks suffered an offensive drought of 20:45 that spanned through the end of the second, the entire third and a brief portion of the fourth quarter. The Crusaders capitalized during that stretch, extending a 7-6 halftime edge to 9-6 before the end of the third stanza.
Adam Yee's second goal of the season out of the opening faceoff of the fourth ended the home team's dry spell, but it wasn't enough for Hartford as Holy Cross put the game away with four-straight scores.
