WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – On Friday, Hartford men's lacrosse head coach Kevin Sanna announced the promotion of Scott McOmber as the next Hartford Men's Lacrosse full time Assistant Coach.
 
"I am thrilled to have Scott as our full time assistant", said Sanna. "He did a great job last year working with our face off group and working with the defense. He has a great lacrosse IQ, and local knowledge of the lacrosse landscape."

McOmber joined the coaching staff last season and was primarily responsible for the face off group while also helping on the defensive side. The Hawks ranked 3rd in the Conference of New England (CNE) in team face off percentage under McOmber in 2026 winning 56.7% of the face off throughout the season. 

"I'm extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the University of Hartford Men's Lacrosse program as an assistant coach", said McOmber. "It's an honor to become part of a program with such a strong tradition and culture. I'm looking forward to bringing my experience, energy, and passion to the program, while working alongside Coach Sanna to help Hartford continue to grow and succeed."

Prior to joining the Hawks, McOmbor was the varsity assistant head coach / defensive coordinator at Suffield High School, from 2023-2026. While at Suffield, the Wildcats have lowered the goals against average from 11+ to 7.33, while also qualifying for the state tournament for the first time in 10 years in 2025. 

McOmber was also a coach for the Connecticut Valley Lacrosse where he is a 2026, 2027 and 2030/31 coach. 

Prior to joining Suffield in 2023, McOmber was the varsity defensive coordinator at East Catholic High School from 2019-2022. While at East Catholic, Scott was also the junior varsity head coach. 

McOmber graduated from Western Connecticut State University in 2016 with a Bachelor's in Mathematics. Scott started college at Mount Ida College in 2011 where he was a was a two-year member of the men's lacrosse team.
