THE LEAD:
Kylie Dazalla led the offense with three hits, but Siena had a strong game in the circle to lift the Saints to a doubleheader sweep of the Hartford softball team on Wednesday. Lauren Butts and Danielle Cacciola combined to allow just seven hits on the day to earn the victories.
GAME 1: SIENA 3, HARTFORD 1
Butts scattered five hits and allowed one walk in a complete-game win for Siena, allowing just one unearned run to improve to 10-6 on the season.

Dazalla had two hits and scored the only run of the ballgame for the Hawks.
Jenice Aloyo,
Peyton Fisher and
Alex Saharek each had a single base knock for Hartford. The Saints got two hits each from Sammy Smaldone, Claire McNamara, Brooke Taylor and Loryn DeFalco.

Lexi Wilkerson was carded with the loss, while
Melissa Pereira pitched three solid shutout innings in relief for the Hawks.
HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 1:
• Siena got on board first with an RBI double off the bat of Paige Hess in the top of the first.
• The Hawks countered in the bottom of the third, as Dazalla led off with a single, went to second on an Aloyo sac bunt and came in on an error to make it 1-1.
• The Saints rallied with a pair of two-out runs in the top of the fourth, both coming in on RBI singles, to take a 3-1 lead.
• Butts buckled down at that juncture, allowing just one base runner the rest of the way to pick up the victory.
GAME 2: SIENA 7, HARTFORD 0
Dazalla and
Danielle DeMarco had the only two hits of the game for the Hawks, as Cacciola had a stellar outing, at one point setting down 15 in a row to improve to 5-6 on the season.
Kelsey Bird pitched a solid game in the loss, allowing three earned runs in four innings for Hartford.

Smaldone went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Melanie Kalesse had two hits and scored twice as well for the Saints.

HOW THEY SCORED, GAME 2:
• Siena plated an unearned run in the first that came in on a double play.
• The Saints added to their lead in the second, when DeFalco delivered a two-run double to left center to make it 3-0.
• Bird settled into the circle, but allowed a run in the fourth on an infield single, a stolen base, a groundout and a wild pitch, to make it 4-0.
• Siena made it a 5-0 lead with back-to-back doubles to start the sixth.
• The Saints tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to result in the final score.
