BOSTON — Junior transfer Ty Thompson from the Hartford men's lacrosse team was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Monday. 
 
A native of Nepean, Ontario, Thompson racked up six points on Saturday to lead the Hawks to a 14-11 win against America East foe UMass Lowell. Scoring twice, the attackman dished out four assists to tie a career high and help Hartford move into fourth place in the league standings.
 
Thompson has been a key contributor to the offense in his first season with the Hawks. Recording at least one point in all 11 games, he leads the team with 20 assists and is second with 36 points. Among the America East's leaders, Thompson ranks No. 3 in assists per game (1.91) and No. 4 in points per game (3.36).
 
Thompson becomes the fourth Hawk to win a weekly award from the America East this season. Senior attackman Dylan Jinks began the season by earning Offensive Player of the Week honorson Feb. 18, before midfielder Hunter Krauss and goalie Cam Logan were named Rookie of the Week on March 4 and March 18, respectively. 
 
Thompson and the Hawks step out of America East play for their next two games. Hartford heads to Dartmouth on Tuesday (4 p.m.), before returning home to host Utah on Saturday (12 p.m.). Tickets for the weekend tilt can be purchased by clicking here.
