SECAUCUS, N.J. – Incoming freshman Ken Turner of the University of Hartford baseball team was selected on the third day of the of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft on Wednesday. A pitcher, he went to the Texas Rangers.
A 6-foot-5 senior right-hander, Turner was drafted by the Rangers with the 595th pick in the 20th round.
A Ledyard native, Turner is a three-sport athlete at Ledyard who turned heads during his junior season as a pitcher for the school's baseball team. This past season he helped the Colonels claim the top spot in the GametimeCT baseball pool for the first time in program history.
Turner was recently named to the Eastern Connecticut Conference Division II All-Star team and led Ledyard to the second round of the CIAC Class M Tournament.
