WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Graduate student Ryan Lovell, senior Wade Tucker and junior Andrew Boniface have been selected to lead the Hartford men's lacrosse through the 2021 season, head coach Ryan Martin announced on Monday.
 
"I am very excited to announce that junior Andrew Boniface has been elected captain by his teammates and will join returning captains Ryan Lovell and Wade Tucker to lead the Hawks in 2021," said Martin, who enters his fifth season at the helm of the men's lacrosse program. "These three young men have provided great leadership, both on and off the field. While they each possess a different style of leadership, they complement one another very well, and all exemplify what it means to be a Hawk and a student-athlete at Hartford."

Lovell, a three-time captain and long-stick midfielder from Wakefield, Mass., has appeared in 35 games in his career as a Hawk. This past season, which was shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he caused 1.3 turnovers over six appearances to finish seventh in the America East. In 2019, Lovell's eight caused turnovers, which were also a career high, were second-most on the team. In the classroom, Lovell, who graduated this past May with a degree in civil engineering, is a three-time America East Academic Honor Roll member and a one-time Commissioner's Honor Roll member.
 
A two-time captain, Tucker appeared in four games last season as a defender, finishing with two ground balls and one caused turnover. One of six Hawks to start in all 15 games in 2019, the Fallston, Md., native forced a team-high 11 turnovers to go along with 12 ground balls, both of which were career-best numbers. A marketing major, Tucker is a three-time America East Commissioner's Honor Roll member. 
 
A native of Gates Mill, Ohio., Boniface was a key contributor to Hartford's offense in 2020. In six games last season, he tallied two goals and six assists for eight points . A midfielder who started in all 15 games in 2019, Boniface compiled a career-high 20 points behind nine goals and 11 assists en route to earning America East All-Rookie Team honors. In the classroom, he is a two-time America East Commissioner's Honor Roll selection as an economics and finance major.
