BOSTON – After a strong outing against Binghamton this past Sunday, graduate student
Nathan Florence was named America East Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced Monday.
Florence opened up Sunday's doubleheader for the Hawks with a stellar performance on the mound at Fiondella Field against Binghamton. He went the distance in game one, tossing seven complete innings, allowing one run on six hits, while striking out seven to lead Hartford to a 2-1 victory against the Bearcats.
This marks the second time in his career that he has been named the America East Pitcher of the Week. He is also the first Hawk to earn weekly honors this season.
Florence, who registers a conference best 1.29 ERA, will look to lead the Hawks in the upcoming weekend, as Hartford plays host to NJIT for a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday (March 27) and Sunday (March 28). First pitch from Fiondella Field is set for noon.
