Cavada and Fadida Sweep AE Weekly Awards

BOSTON — Freshmen Rotem Fadida and Darío Cavada from the Hartford men's soccer team started their careers off strong by sweeping all three of the America East's weekly awards, the organization announced Tuesday. Fadida earned Rookie of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Cavada took home Offensive Player of the Week honors.

A goalkeeper, Fadida became the first freshman in program history to earn both Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week honors in the same week, and the same season. In his debut game, he tallied six saves to keep his first career shutout during the 2-0 win against UAlbany.

Cavada, a forward, played the role of a super sub. He had a hand in each of the Hawks' two scores, tallying one goal and an assist in 38 minutes to lead Hartford to the season-opening victory.

The weekly awards mark the first in Cavada's and Fadida's careers.

The Hawks make their debut in West Hartford for a two-game homestand, starting with a matchup against Binghamton this upcoming Sunday (March 14). Kickoff from Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium is set for 3 p.m. on America East TV.
