BOSTON – Senior John Thrasher from the Hartford baseball team was named the America East Player of the Week, the organization announced Monday. 

Thrasher earned the honor for the first time in his career after batting .571 (8-for-14), tallying nine runs scored, five homers, eight RBI and six stolen bases over a four-game series at UMBC this past weekend.

A native of Ridgefield, Conn., Thrasher leads the conference in batting average (.439), slugging-percentage (.895), on-base percentage (.500) and stolen bases (19). His 51 career stolen bases ranked second only behind Aaron Leonard's ('94) 58 in the program record book.

Thrasher becomes the second Hawk to earn weekly honors, joining graduate student Nathan Florence, who was named the Pitcher of the Week on March 22 and 29.
 
Thrasher will look to lead the Hawks this weekend as Hartford travels to Maine for a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday (April 17) and Sunday (April 18). First pitch from Mahaney Diamond is set for noon on both days.
