NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — The Hartford women's lacrosse team was recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for its success inside the classroom. The team was recently named an Academic Honor Squad, while nine Hawks were placed on the organization's Division I Academic Honor Roll.
Hartford was one of 285 schools across Division I, II, III and NAIA to be named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad for the 2020-21 academic year. To qualify for the prestigious honor, team's must have posted a 3.2 or higher cumulative team GPA for the academic year.
Hartford posted an impressive 3.64 GPA in 2020-21, which is the fifth highest mark among the Hawks' 17 Division I athletic programs.
The Hawks join America East members UAlbany, Binghamton, UMBC, UMass Lowell, New Hampshire, Stony Brook and Vermont in receiving the team accolade.
In addition to the Academic Honor Squad Award, a total of 814 student-athletes from 99 different institutions were placed on the Division I Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Hartford's nine Academic Honor Roll selections are the second-most in the America East. UAlbany landed a league-high 10 student-athletes on the list, while Binghamton (7), New Hampshire (6), Vermont (5), Stony Brook (5), UMBC (2) and UMass Lowell (2) rounded out the America East's honorees.
Hartford women's lacrosse was also recently recognized by the America East as 82 percent of its roster — a total of 27 student-athletes — were named to the America East Honor Roll for posting a GPA of 3.0 or better in the Spring 2021 semester. D'Andrea and Pupillo received Presidential Scholar-Athletes distinction from the league, which recognizes graduating student-athletes who have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher as an undergraduate student.
