CNE Semifinals Preview: #4 Hartford Women's Lacrosse Travels to #1 Endicott College Looking for Revenge

BEVERLY, Mass. - The University of Hartford women's lacrosse team is headed back to Endicott College this Wednesday with a trip to the Conference of New England (CNE) championship game on the line. 

No. 4 University of Hartford Hawks (11-6 Overall, 7-3 CNE)
No. 1 Endicott College Gulls (13-4 Overall, 10-0 CNE)

Game Headlines:
The Hawks and Gulls meet once again in the CNE tournament after facing off in the 2025 CNE Championship game which saw the Gulls bring home the championship. Hartford will look to win their first ever game in Beverly and earn a CNE Championship bid. 

Hartford Headlines:

  • The Hawks have held just a 4-6 road record this season with their last road win coming on April 11th at the University of New England in overtime. However Hartford has only won two of their last five road contests. Sophomore Kate Zonin (North Smithfield, R.I.) who was recently named to the Hartford All-Hawk Team leads the offense with 68 goals and 16 assists on the season. Senior Sara Costa (Shrub Oak, N.Y.) followed with 51 points on 36 goals and 15 assists. Junior Lauren Samela (Cheshire, Conn.) follows with 44 points while junior Laurel McIntosh (West Kingston, R.I.) added 38 points. 
  • Defensively the Hawks are led by senior Samantha Ciaglo (Colchester, Conn.) who caused a team leading 22 turnovers to go with 26 ground balls. Sophomore Emiley Bussiere (Agawam, Mass.) put together a stellar sophomore year with 17 caused turnovers. Senior Shelby Frashure (Pasadena, Md.) and sophomore Allison O'Donnell (Goshen, N.Y.) will also play important roles in the backline. 
  • Junior Mandi Rivard (Vernon, Conn.) was exceptional in the playoff victory for the Hawks making 15 saves while just allowing 11 goals. Rivard in total has made 116 saves with a 45.3% save percentage. 
  • In the first round the Hawks defeated the University of New England by a 12-11 overtime score. The game was an instant classic with five lead changes over the course of the game. Zonin would score the game-winner after a quiet first half ending the game with three goals and an assist. Ciaglo was brilliant defensively with three caused turnovers. 

Endicott College Highlights:

  • The Gulls were 7-1 at home this season and went a perfect 10-0 in conference play. 
  • The offense is led by Leah Black who ended the year with 33 goals and 30 assists. Emerson Clark registered 45 goals and 17 assists while Mia Smith added 46 goals and 10 assists. In total seven Gulls have totaled more than 20 points this season. 
  • The defense is led by Kate Cassidy who has 18 caused turnovers on the season. Kenzie Velsmid follows with 17 while in total nine Gulls have more than 10 on the season. 
  • Severine Michel is the top keeper for Endicott stopping just 39 shots this year and allowing 78 goals. Faith Minickene has also made three stats with 21 saves and 41 goals allowed. 

All-Time Against Endicott:
The Hawks are 0-4 all-time against Endicott College falling by a 17-6 final on April 18th.
