Four Women's Lacrosse Hawks Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large Team

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - On Tuesday, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large teams were announced with four members of the Hartford women's lacrosse team featured. 

The College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® and Academic All-District® Teams program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. To be considered for inclusion on the Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® At-Large Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, and must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. 

The four Hawks being named to the team were sophomore Kate Zonin (North Smithfield, R.I.), senior Sara Costa (Shrub Oak, N.Y.), senior Samantha Ciaglo (Colchester, Conn.) and junior Talei Ricketson (Centennial, Colo.). 

Zonin had a breakout season for the Hawks in 2026 being named the CNE Offensive Player of the Year as well as a 1st Team All-Conference selection. Kate ended the year with a team-high 73 goals to go along with 17 assists for 90 points. She added 69 draw controls, 20 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. The sophomore is the first ever major conference award winner in program history. Zonin was also named to the All-Hawk team for the 2025-26 school year. Zonin sits 3rd in program history in points (109), 3rd in career goals (90), and 8th in career draw controls (69). 

Costa finished her Hawk career with a sensational senior season. Sara ended the year second on the team in points with 51 on 36 goals and 15 assists. She added 23 grounders and 11 caused turnovers in 18 starts. Costa ends her career 4th in program history in points (100), 4th in goals (75), 5th in career assists (25), 3rd in career ground balls (83) and 6th in caused turnovers (32). She would later be named to the CNE All-Conference 2nd Team. This is the second consecutive season being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. 

Ciaglo leaves Hartford as the most decorated defensive-player in program history being named to the CNE All-Conference 2nd team for the second consecutive season. Samatha contributed a single-season program record 24 caused turnovers this season with 28 ground balls. The senior leaves as the program record holder in caused turnovers (65) and is 2nd in ground balls (103). 

Ricketson played in all 18 games for the Hawks in 2026 making 17 starts. Talei ended the year with 11 goals, 11 assists to go with nine grounders and five caused turnovers. Ricketson sits 6th in program history in career points (86), 10th in career goals (41), and 2nd in career assists (45). Talei made the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for the second consecutive year.
