Four Hawks Earn America East Baseball All-Conference Accolades

BOSTON – Four members of the Hartford baseball team collected All-Conference honors from the America East, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Highlighting the list of honorees is junior Tremayne Cobb Jr., who was named to the America East All-Conference First Team. It is the second time in his career that he has earned All-Conference honors after being named to the Second Team and All-Rookie team last season.

Seniors Tim Blaisdell and Donnie Cohoon and junior Derek Tenney rounded out the honorees, as each were named to the America East All-Conference Second Team.

One of the top shortstops in the region, Cobb Jr. had a stellar junior campaign. A native of Upper Marlboro, Md., he emerged as the main power threat in the Hawks' lineup, ranking fifth in the conference with 10 homeruns and seventh in RBI with 47. Cobb Jr. was just as efficient for contact, posting a .314 batting average with 55 hits and a .387 on-base percentage. The shortstop was stellar in the infield as well, posting 136 assists, the second most in the America East.

Cohoon emerged as one of the top-bats in the conference this season, ranking fourth in batting average (.354), third in slugging percentage (.526), eighth in on-base percentage (.434) and second in OPS (1.060). A native of Plymouth, Mass., Cohoon earned his first All-Conference accolade of his career. The outfielder rounded out his senior campaign with 35 hits, 25 runs, six homeruns, 15 RBI and 52 putouts.

Blaisdell has been the team's ace on the hill, making 13 starts in his senior campaign. During conference play, he led the rotation with a 3-4 record, a 5.86 ERA while throwing 36 strikeouts. The Wethersfield, Conn., native finished the regular season with a 6.78 ERA overall, one complete game and tossing a team-high 43 strikeouts in 65.0 innings of work. The second-team honor is the first conference accolade for Blaisdell.

Tenney earns All-Conference accolades for the second season in a row, earning Second Team and All-Rookie Team accolades a year ago. The Wethersfield, Conn., native was a staple of the infield, earning the utility position spot on the second team after playing first, second and third base this season. Hitting .330, he ranks in the league's top-10 in slugging percentage (.595), OPS (.971), hits (61) and home runs (10).

Earning the No. 6 seed, Hartford opens the America East Tournament in Orono, Maine., on Wednesday against reigning conference champions, No. 3 NJIT. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
