"I'm excited to announce Noah, Robert, and Devin as captains for the upcoming season," said Malinowski. "Their leadership qualities continuously emerged throughout the Fall season and workouts. Each bringing a different personality that can connect across our roster. The quiet toughness of Noah, Rob's diligent work ethic, and Devin's sparkplug energy are qualities that we want to embrace as a team. With a youthful roster, it is important to have multiple veterans to turn to with the challenges ahead."
Rivera, a native of New Bedford, Mass., started in 28 of 32 games he appeared in during the 2022 season. The first-baseman recorded a .243 average with 27 hits, two doubles, five home runs and 15 RBI. In addition, he stole one base and scored 18 runs while posting a .995 fielding percentage and 203 putouts.
Chaney, a native of Millersville, Md., made four starts on the mound during the Hawks' 2022 campaign. In 17 appearances throughout the year, he registered 26 strikeouts in 39.2 innings pitched, good for fifth on the team.
Kellogg, who earned All-Rookie Team honors in 2019, enjoyed a breakout 2022 season with the Hawks. The Florence, Mass., native launched a career-high three home runs and recorded a career-high .294 average with 25 hits, three doubles and 10 RBI.
The Hawks' 2023 campaign features one game at Dunkin' Donuts Park in downtown Hartford against Yale (April 12).
Hartford will open the 2023 season with seven consecutive road games, beginning with a three-game trip to Radford (March 3-5). The Hawks return to Connecticut for a single game stop at in-state foe UConn (March 7) before traveling to Georgetown for a three-game series (March 10-12).
Hartford then opens its home slate with a single game against Quinnipiac (March 14) before traveling to Manhattan for two games (March 17-18) prior to hosting the Jaspers (March 19) and Stonehill (March 21).
After two quick games at home, Hartford hits the road for an extended seven-game road trip, kicking off with a three-game set at Northeastern (March 25-26). The Hawks will matchup in a single game against Fordham (March 28) before heading to Coppin State (April 1-2) to close out the road trip.
The Hawks will then face in-state foe Sacred Heart (April 4) before traveling to Vestal, N.Y., for a three-game set against the former America East rivals Binghamton (April 7-8). Hartford returns home for a split three-game series against Fairfield (April 14-15) and a single-game homestand against Marist (April 18).
The Hawks hit the road for a season-long nine-game road trip, starting with a three-game set against Maine (April 21-23). Hartford then gets set for five games in five days beginning with UMass (April 25), Rhode Island (April 26) and rounding out with a three-game series against Monmouth (April 29-30). The Hawks then return to the Nutmeg State for single-game matchup against in-state rival Central Connecticut (May 2).
Hartford wraps up its 2023 season with a three-game split series against Quinnipiac (May 5-7). The Hawks game against the Bobcats on May 6 will serve as the team's senior day ceremony taking place prior to first pitch at 1 p.m., out at Fiondella Field behind the Sports Center.
