Box Score SALEM, Mass. - The University of Hartford men's lacrosse team remained unbeaten with a 20-4 victory over Salem State Wednesday.
The duo of Eric Kelly and John Furino combined for 13 of the team's 20 goals, while Griffin Weller was dishing out assists like Oprah Winfrey gave out prizes. Weller finished with a career-high seven assists, which is tied for the fourth-most all-time in a single game. Aidan Kemp added three goals and five assists, and Mason Moy contributed three goals and three assists.
The combination of Kelly and Weller got the proverbial ball rolling by teaming on three of the team's first four goals, Kelly scoring with Weller assisting. It was 6-0 before Salem State found the back of the net. Furino assisted Kelly on the next two goals to push the advantage to 8-1, and the lead with 8-2 at the break.
After Weller scored his only goal of the game with an assist from Furino, Kelly scored twice more with assists from Weller and
Cam James. From there it was pretty much a scoring exhibition by Furino, who scored six of Hartford's final nine goals.
The goalkeeping duo of
Andrew Leibold and
Cole Zering split the playing time evenly with each allowing two goals. Zering finished with three saves and Leibold with two.Â
Hartford concludes the season 6 p.m. April 19, traveling to Regis.Â
