NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On Saturday, the University of Hartford women's indoor track & field team kicked off the season competing at the Yale Season Opener in New Haven.
Rapid Recap:
- The Hawks were headlined by senior Cali Leonard (Boston, Mass.) who broke her own school record in the 60 meter hurdles, clocking in at a time of 9.13 seconds. Leonard would finish in 6th place in the event, breaking her own school record she set on February 27th of this year.
- In the 200 meter dash sophomore Averi McCoy (Bensalem, Pa.) posted a new personal record finishing in 17th at time of 27.47.
- Freshman Ella Stephenson (Ledyard, Conn.) put together a good performance in the 800 meter dash at a time of 2:34.38 good for 4th.
- Junior Elizabeth White (Nashua, N.H.) bested her previous record in the women's one mile at a time of 5:39.91.
- Sophomore Jordan Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) finished in third place in the high jump event clearing 1.63 meters. Murphy moved up to #7 in the program record books with the jump.
- Junior Yovanna Cruz (Stratford, Conn.) threw 11.12 meters in the shot put event to push herself into #7 in program history in the event. Cruz would finish the meet in 10th place.
- Finally junior Madison DiPasquale (Wallingford, Conn.) improved her #3 all-time mark in the weight throw finishing at 14.19 meters to place fifth in the event.

"Today was a great day for the Hawks", said head coach Connor Green. "We opened up strong with some great marks in the throws and jumping events. That success carried onto the track where many of our student-athletes found themselves running very well! Overall, I am extremely pleased with how the squad performed and know that it will set the stage for even greater performances as the season continues."

The Hawks will compete on December 13th in the Seahawk Shootout at Ocean Breeze hosted by Wagner College.
