Box Score 2 FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Four pitchers combined to allow just one earned run over two games as the University of Hartford softball team opened the season with a sweep of MASCAC preseason favorite Framingham State Friday at the Maple Street Field.
Hartford combined for 20 hits, 10 in each game, in securing the sweep.
GAME 1: HARTFORD 4, FRAMINGHAM STATE 0
Freshmen
Alexis Sealey and
Gracie Hopkins limited Framingham State to just two hits as Hartford claimed the opener, 4-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first three batters of the game reached, the latter being an RBI single by junior Olivia Wolk. Hartford added a second run in the frame as junior Azya Walker scored from second on a force out.
- Hartford added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Sophomore transfer Gio Miccio doubled home the run in the sixth, and graduate Mara Sczecienski doubled home the run in the seventh.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Sealey (1-0) earned her first career win, allowing just an infield hit over five innings of work. She struck out three with five walks.
- Hopkins picked up the save, allowing one hit over the final two innings. The rookie struck out one and walked one.
- Wolk tied a career-high with three hits, marking the sixth time in her career with three hits in a game.
- Sczecienski registered a pair of RBI on two hits. She now has 13 multi-RBI games in her career. Freshmen Adelie Beebe and Alexis Sealey both had their first career multi-hit games.
GAME 2: HARTFORD 5, FRAMINGHAM STATE 2
Sophomore
Carly Mayhood (1-0) struck out seven over six innings, yielding one earned run on three hits to earn her first win of the season as the Hawks completed the sweep.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the second straight game, the Hawks scored in the first inning Sczecienski single home two runs and then scored on a single by Miccio.
- FSU got two of the runs back in the bottom of the first frame.
- Back-to-back triples by Wolk and Sczecienski brought home a run in the third inning, and the scoring was capped by a Sealey double.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Freshman Alex Hassett picked up her first career save, hurling a clean seventh inning with a strikeout.
- Sczecienski finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI, while Sealey was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
- Miccio had two stolen bases, while Walker and freshman Sydney Matz also registered a stolen base for the Hawks.

Hartford (2-0) travels for the Tucson Invitational Games to play 10 games over six games. The Hawks open play 4:30 p.m. Monday against Whittier before playing Salve Regina at 6:30 p.m.
