Playoff Preview: #3 Hawks Men's Lacrosse Travels to #2 Wentworth for CNE Semi Final

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Hartford Men's Lacrosse team looks to continue their playoff run tonight, when they travel to Boston, Massachusetts to take on the Wentworth Leopards at 7:00 P.M.

No. 3 University of Hartford Hawks (10-6 Overall, 6-2 CNE)

No. 2 Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards (13-4 Overall, 6-2 CNE)

Game Headlines:

Hartford Men's Lacrosse seeks to avenge their 10-9 loss at Wentworth during the regular season. The loss became the deciding factor in conference seeding, as Wentworth gained the coveted #2 seed with the come from behind win. 

Hartford Headlines:

- The Hawks have won six of their last seven games, with their lone loss coming against Wentworth. Hartford is currently on a two-game winning streak, with their latest win coming on Saturday, April 26th, defeating the University of New England Nor'easters 12-5. Hawks Graduate captain Jake Ojert (Doylestown, Pa.) and sophomore Ethan Hunt (Skaneateles, N.Y.) each scored four goals in the win, and sophomore CJ Ledwick (Falmouth, Mass.) made five saves to send Hartford to the CNE Semi-Finals.
- The Hawks attack has been spread out this season, with eight players having recorded at least ten goals this season. Sophomore Michael Novotny (Cornwall, N.Y.) leads the Hawks with 31 goals this season, the eighth most in the CNE. Ojert's performance against the Nor'easters has continued a strong graduate season, as he sits 6th in the CNE in Assists per Game with 1.33, 
- Hawks goalie CJ Ledwick has been dominant in net this season, earning four CNE Defensive Player of the Week awards, with the lowest Goals Against Average (GA/AVG) in the CNE, allowing 7.95 goals per game. Ledwick also boasts one of the highest save percentages in the conference, with a .604 save percentage across fifteen games in 2025. In Hartford's prior matchup against Wentworth, Ledwick recorded 13 saves. 
- Hartford has caused the fourth fewest turnovers (131) in the CNE, but similarly commits the fewest turnovers (284) in the conference. 

Wentworth Highlights:

- Wentworth has enjoyed having a home field advantage this season, with their one home loss coming on February 15th against Skidmore College. The Leopards currently have a six game winning streak at Sweeney Field, with their last home win coming in their final game of the regular season, defeating Roger Williams University 11-10 in Double Overtime. 
- Wentworth is led by captain Drew Boyley, who has the third most points on the team with 56, recording 28 goals and 28 assists this season. The Leopards have seven players with double-digit goals this season, with Erik Vogt leading the way with 44, tied for the most goals in the CNE this season. Vogt's 66 points are the second most in the CNE.
- Defensively, Wentworth is a solid unit that has been hot as of late. Over the course of their current three-game winning streak, Wentworth has allowed 25 goals, shutting down opposing offenses in clutch situations. Six players on Wentworth have caused at least ten turnovers, with Kyle Leger leading the team with 24 caused turnovers this season. 
- In goal for the Leopards is Tom Gardner, another one of the top goalies in the Conference of New England. Entering today's game, Gardner has allowed an average of 8.49 goals per game, the second best mark in the CNE. Gardner leads the CNE with a .615 save percentage. 

All-Time Against Wentworth 

- The Hawks are 0-2 all time against the Wentworth Leopards, with both losses coming in overtime. Their most recent loss came on April 15th, falling 10-9 in OT. Prior to this season, the Hawks fell to Wentworth in April of 2024, losing 11-10 in the fourth overtime.
