Hartford Women's Track & Field Wins CNE Championship for First Time in Program History

WENHAM, Mass. - The Hartford women's outdoor track and field team competed this weekend in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championships hosted by Gordon College. The Hawks delivered a dominant performance to earn first place out of ten teams, totaling 181 points to capture the conference title. This win is extra special as it sets program history for the Hartford women's outdoor track and field claiming its first ever CNE Championship.

Rapid Recap:

  • Sophomore Tamara Greene (Hartford, Conn.) claimed first place in the 100m hurdles crossing the finish line at 14.84 seconds. Just behind Greene was teammate junior Caroline Crocker (Bernardston, Mass.) placing in third with a time of 15.17 seconds. 
  • Senior Madison DiPasquale (Wallingford, Conn.) earned 1st place in the shot put event launching a distance of 12.51 meters, along with that tally she also earned 1st place in the discus throw clearing a distance of 40.97 meters.
  • Graduate student Kayla Pelletier (Southington, Conn.) took first in the javelin throw event; she gave the team ten points when covering an impressive 45.54 meters.
  • Junior Jordan Murphy (East Hampton, Conn.) earned first place in the high jump event clearing 1.66 meters, Murphy also earned third in the shot put event tossing a distance of 11.10 meters. 
  • The Hawks found success in the 4x100 meter relay taking third place with a team time of 48.92 the Hawks to make up the team was freshman Jaya Pichay (South Windsor, Conn.), junior Leslie Samuel (Montauk, N.Y.), freshman Emily Breau (Meriden, Conn.), and Greene.
  • Pichay took third in the 100 meter dash crossing the finish line at 12.55 seconds.
  • Breau finished in second place to earn the team eight points in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.52.
  • The Hawks 4x400 meter relay team placed second with their dominant showing, the team of Hawks was Breau, Murphy, sophomore Ella Stephenson (Ledyard, Conn.), and freshman Leah Valentino (Beacon Falls, Conn.). The Hawks crossed the finish line at 4:08.00
  • Sophomore Cat Fournier (Raymond, N.H.) and sophomore Giselle Scrivanich (Medford, N.J.) tied for third place in the pole vault event clearing a height of 2.75 meters.
  • Senior Destinee Majett (Brick Township, N.J.) tossed in the hammer throw event a distance of 45.70 meters to earn second place for the team.
  • Freshman Maeve McGinnis (Windsor Locks, Conn.) took second place in the high jump with a height of 1.56 meters.

"The win today meant a lot to me because it was my last chance to get the conference win," said senior Madison DiPasquale (Wallingford, Conn.). "We, as a team, work so hard every practice, and holding the trophy today shows that it paid off. Every person played a role in the win today and I could not be prouder. As my track career comes to an end I am glad I can add this as a memory to never forget!"

The Hawks will conclude their 2026 outdoor season next weekend Friday, May 1st and Saturday, May 2nd at the NCAA Division III New England Championships in Springfield, Mass.
