BOX SCORE

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. –
The University of Hartford men's lacrosse team fell to the Siena Saints, 10-9, on Siena Turf Field on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks, who never led in the contest, fall to 1-2 on the season. Siena improves to 2-2 with the win.

Siena jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, its largest advantage of the game, after seven minutes of play. The Hawks clawed back to bring the deficit to just one goal on four occasions but were never able to complete the comeback.

The Hawks, who outshot their opponents 48-26, received goal production from six different players with freshman Tate Klidonas, sophomore Jared Franze and junior Martin Bowes coming off the bench to lead the team with two goals each. Bowes finished with a team-high three points, a career-best. Danny Martinsen and Chris Roth each netted a hat trick for Siena while Kyle Curry and John Rogener each finished with three points.

Klidonas delivered the Hawks' first goal at the 7:13 mark before Siena responded less than three minutes later to close out the opening quarter with a 4-1 advantage. Franze and Bowes opened the second with two goals before Martinsen's second score of the game boosted Siena's lead to 5-3. Hartford entered the halftime break with a one goal deficit behind Nunamacher's third goal of the season.

Roth delivered the only offense of the third quarter with back-to-back scores within 17 seconds of each other, the first coming at the 7:14 mark, to again give the Saints a three-goal lead at 7-4. The Hawks and Saints exchanged tallies twice before Hartford managed to string together another rally behind goals by attackman Ryan Compitello and Klidonas, bringing the score to 9-8. Siena again pushed its lead to two with Martinsen's final goal at the 3:59 goal before Franze scored unassisted with 2:59 remaining.

The Hawks saw seven final chances to but the equalizer on the scoreboard in the closing minutes of the contest. Klidonas and attackman Aidan Genik's attempts were rejected by the post while Saints' keeper Tom Parr turned away four of those shots.

Hartford controlled the battle of possessions with Tim Fallon finishing 13-of-21 in the face-off circle while scooping up a game-high 10 ground balls. The senior moves to sixth in the Hawks' all-time record book with 267. Conor Flynn and Bowes each tracked down six loose balls. Siena converted on one of four man-up opportunities while Hartford was 0-for-4 in extra-man chances.

After a two-week absence, the Hawks return to the friendly confines of Al-Marzook Field when they host No. 20/22 Brown on Wednesday, March 9. Opening face-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. In the teams' previous meeting last season, Hartford dropped a single goal decision in overtime in Providence, R.I.
