Hawks Fall to UConn in Season Opener

STORRS, Conn.-The University of Hartford men's tennis travelled to Storrs Wednesday to open the 2013 fall schedule against in-state foe UConn. The Hawks fell in the season-opening dual match by a 7-0 count.
 
In doubles play, the duo of senior Alex Holdstein and freshman Harrison Max took five games in the No. 3 slot, the most of any Hawk duo at the meet. In the No. 2 slot, newcomers Juan Molina-Naranjo and Morgan White took four games. Senior Jordan Badenko and sophomore Nicholas Sharwarko grabbed three games in the top spot.
 
Molina-Naranjo and White did well in their first singles action for Hartford as well. Playing in the No. 3 position, Molina-Naranjo won four games in each set before falling, 6-4, 6-4. Out of the No. 5 position, White also picked up eight games in a 6-3, 7-5 result.
 
Badenko fought back in his second set at the top singles spot. The Sydney, Australia native won four games in the second set after dropping the first set, 6-1.
 
The Hartford men are back in action this Saturday, September 21, when they head to Loudonville, N.Y., to battle the Siena Saints in a dual match.
