Former Hawk Tracey Kelusky Voted into NLL Hall of Fame

BALTIMORE, Md. – Former University of Hartford men's lacrosse standout Tracey Kelusky has been voted into the National Lacrosse League (NLL) Hall of Fame as the Class of 2016, the organization announced. A member of the lacrosse team from 1997-00, Kelusky played 14 seasons in the NLL before joining the New England Black Wolves' coaching staff in 2014.

Kelusky's name is peppered throughout Hartford's record books. He holds the program record for goals in a single season after scoring 59 in 2000, while his 83 points that year stand second-most in a season. In addition, Kelusky also holds the top-two career marks for goals per game in a season (4.21 in 2000; 3.18 in 1999) and the top mark for points per game in a season (5.93 in 2000). In the all-time record books, he ranks second in career goals (139) and points (209).

During his time with the Hawks, Kelusky, who was inducted into the University of Hartford Alumni Hall of Fame in 2006, was a three-time America East All-Conference honoree who enjoyed First Team status in 2000. That season, he helped lead Hartford to the program's first America East Championship appearance. Moreover, the 36 wins he accumulated as a Hawk make him a part of the second-winningest class since Hartford's Division I era began in 1985.

At the conclusion of his collegiate career, Kelusky became Hartford's first, and only, No. 1 overall draft pick when he was the first choice in the 2000 NLL Entry Draft. The 2001 NLL Rookie of the Year, he went on to play 14 seasons in the league with Calgary (2003-10), Columbus (2001), Montreal (2011-13) and Philadelphia (2014).

Kelusky's stint with the NLL was just as impressive as his collegiate career at Hartford. He retired with the 11th-most goals (383) and points (823) in league history and played in the 13th-most games (195) in NLL history. A five-time NLL All-Star, he was a key contributor to a pair of NLL championships with Calgary in 2004 and 2009 and was named awarded the NLL Sportsmanship Award in 2007.

On the international level, Kelusky was a member of the Canadian team that won the 2003 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championship. He also captured gold indoors with Team Canada in 2007 and 2011 while also helping the team to a silver medal at the 2002 World Lacrosse Championships.

Kelusky, a native of Peterborough, Ontario, retired from the NLL in September of 2014. He just concluded his second season as an assistant coach on the Black Wolves' staff.

He will be enshrined at the NLL Hall of Fame Ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario. Josh Sanderson, a 19-year player in the NLL, and John Tavares, who played an NLL-record 24 seasons in the league, join Kelusky in comprising the largest member class since 2010.
