Tim Blaisdell and redshirt-senior
Kyle Hawes co-captains for the 2022 season, head coach
Steve Malinowski announced.
"I'm excited to announce Tim and Kyle as captains for this year," Malinowski said. "Their commitment, work ethic and leadership qualities were recognized by the entire team. It is a great honor that they both deserve, and I know they are prepared and ready to lead this team into the 2022 season."
Blaisdell, a Wethersfield, Conn. native, made nine starts during the Hawks' abbreviated 2021 season. He enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, registering a 4-3 record with 37 strikeouts and two complete games in 49.2 innings. Blaisdell also finished second on the team with a 4.53 ERA. During the 2020 season, which was cut short due to COVID-19, he struck out four batters across five games, tossing 7.2 innings.
Hawes, a native of Lynnfield, Mass., started in 26 of 30 games he appeared in during the 2021 season. An outfielder, he recorded a .222 batting average with 18 hits, three doubles, three home runs and 14 RBI. In addition, he stole two bags and scored 12 runs while posting a .970 fielding percentage and 36 putouts.
